Based on Prosper Mérimée’s 1845 novella and set in Seville, Spain, Carmen tells the tale of a proud, independent, instinct-driven woman who would rather die than betray her own nature.
Directed by Stephen Stead and featuring Nonhlanhla Yende in the title role, Lukhanyo Moyake as Don Jose, Vuvu Mpofu as Michaela and Conroy Scott as the Toreador. Tim Murray conducts the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
